Oak Family Dental wants to welcome our newest doctor, Dr. Troy L. Patterson Jr. Since we already have one Dr. Patterson, he will go by “Dr. Troy”. Dr. Troy was born and raised in the New Orleans area and has grown up around dentistry. His sister Dr. Garet and his father Dr. Patterson are happy to have him working side by side with them.

Dr. Troy joins us after completing dental school at LSU School of Dentistry and then attending a surgical residency program through New York University. During his surgical residency, Dr. Troy was able to perfect his surgical skills for advanced surgical treatment including extractions, implants, sinus lifts and grafts.

Dr. Troy enjoys working with patients of all ages and especially enjoys doing surgical procedures. Prior to graduation from dental school, Dr. Troy attended Louisiana State University where he was a member and President of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. In his spare time, Dr. Troy enjoys fishing, watching LSU sports, and being surrounded by family and friends.

Dr. Troy L. Patterson has been practicing dentistry in Metairie for nearly thirty years. Dr. Patterson’s desire to help people has only grown in his years in practice. He loves his job because he is able to treat patients of all ages, establish relationships with them, and watch them grow. Many of our current patients were cared for by Dr. Patterson when they were children, and now Dr. Patterson treats their children!

Dr. Patterson is originally from Baton Rouge but attended LSU dental school, where he met his wife of over 40 years, Sheila. After dental school, they remained in the New Orleans area and have called it home ever since. He has two children, Garet and Troy. Carrying on a family tradition, Garet and Troy have both become dentists and joined Oak Family Dental.

He participates in LSU’s Continuum of Esthetic Dentistry to learn all about the latest developments. He is a Certified CEREC provider, and has had advanced 3i Dental Implant training, Dr. Patterson is a well-respected member of our community and was voted one of the Top Dentists by New Orleans Magazine. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, New Orleans Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Margaret “Garet” Patterson attended Louisiana State University where she received a BS in biological sciences. She is a native of New Orleans and received her dental degree from LSU Dental School. She completed an AEGD (Advanced Education in General Dentistry) residency at the University of Alabama Birmingham in conjunction with the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Birmingham. Dr. Garet completed her residency and joined our practice in July 2014. She is proud to be a dentist in Metairie and happy to return as a dentist to the practice where she grew up.

Dr. Garet is a member of numerous Study Clubs throughout the Greater New Orleans Area where she and other dentists and specalists meet monthly to stay update on the latest treatment available to patients. She is trained in Invisalign, CEREC, digital impressions and cosmetic procedures.

I love being able to work with my dad. We have a lot of fun working side by side. Every day I learn something new from him, and I am teaching him techniques I learned in my residency program. I also enjoy working with the staff members, many of whom have been in the practice for years and have watched me grow up. It is a very neat relationship I am starting to develop with our patients. Most of the patients already know who I am just by hearing my dad talk about me over the years. When I enter the treatment rooms and introduce myself they say they have been expecting me. I enjoy learning patients’ concerns about their oral health and giving them techniques and tips to help their concerns.

Dr. Garet is a member of the Junior League of New Orleans and enjoys doing service throughout the New Orleans community. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, reading, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and attending LSU and Saints football games.
